Aqeeqah key terms explained

Definition:

Aqeeqah is a sunnah sacrifice that is offered on behalf of a newborn on the seventh day after birth. For a boy 2 animals should be offered in sacrifice whilst for a girl it is 1 animal.

Purpose:

The purpose of Aqeeqah is to follow the sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) as well as a way to express gratitude to Allah for the birth of a child.

Established in 2014, Aid 4 Ummah is an aid agency and NGO helping those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disaster in over 20 countries worldwide.
